While Chewbacca's violent bouts are few and far between in the Star Wars franchise, his origin in Solo: A Star Wars Story shows a different side. Even after all of their banter, Chewie decides to protect the droid during their escape from Cloud City. Chewie eventually gives up and elects to carry the droid on his back for the remainder of the movie. Chewbacca is no Babu Frik, however, and struggles to rebuild the droid. Chewbacca is sent to a jail cell but is allowed to keep Threepio, and the Wookiee attempts to rebuild the droid while locked up. Chewbacca eventually finds the droid's body shortly before the heroes cross Darth Vader. In The Empire Strikes Back, C-3PO gets blasted by a stormtrooper and ends up in a Ugnaught recycling plant. This is not the first time that audiences have seen Chewbacca be protective of one of his crewmates. If only Unkar Plutt had heard this advice before he approached Chewie. Han Solo interrupts with some sage advice: "It's not wise to upset a Wookiee." C-3PO claps back at Han and Solo uses this opportunity to teach the droid that Wookiees will pull people's arms out of their sockets if they lose. C-3PO interrupts him by telling him that screaming about it can't help the Wookiee. Artoo makes a move that surprises Chewie and he begins to roar. Fans have been waiting to see Chewie amputate someone since Han's initial threat in A New Hope.įans were just getting used to the Wookiee when he was playing a game of Dejarik against R2-D2 aboard the Millenium Falcon in A New Hope. Chewie grabs Unkar by the wrist and twists his arm before stomping down on his foot, pulling Plutt's arm straight from his body with relative ease. He then starts to pull at Chewie's bandages to which the Wookiee reacts. Plutt must think he's more intimidating than he is because he turns towards Chewie claiming that he's not scared of him.
The Wookiee takes the gun back from Plutt. Unkar disarms Rey surprisingly quickly, but lucky for her, Chewie is by her side. Plutt is outraged over Rey's behavior as she pulls out her blaster, aiming it right at the Crolute's head. Rey is wandering around Maz Kanata's cantina when she is apprehended by Unkar Plutt, the man she stole the Millenium Falcon from on Jakku.
A deleted scene from The Force Awakens depicts just how ruthless Chewie can be. While Chewie has proven himself time and time again with his bowcaster, one wouldn't necessarily think of the Wookiee's brute strength as his strongest weapon.
He's usually able to get by on fear and threats alone, but sometimes he has to take physical action. Chewbacca is one of the most dangerous heroes in the Star Wars Universe.
